6 Month Shots

I took Jimmer for his 6 month shots on Friday and I must say that I wasn't too thrilled. Previously I have taken him on Shane's Friday off, but this time around it just didn't work out that way. Luckily he only had to have one shot, so it wasn't so bad. The worst part of it was probably the fact that I had to have my tetanus shot at the same time. I love my little man and here are his stats this time around...

Weight: 19 pounds 2 1/2 ounces

Height: 27 inches

Head: OFF THE CHARTS!!

Jimmer is doing so well and by some miracle hasn't thrown up the entire content of his stomach in about 3 weeks. I attribute it to the fact that I have stopped giving him his meds, but what do I know? He is just so happy lately and I can't get enough of his sweet little smile. His favorite thing to do right now is suck on his toes. It's so funny to watch him fold himself in half and shove his toes in his mouth.

Gregory

Ava came home from school the other day with an extra backpack in which she told me that she got to bring home Gregory. She was so thrilled and thought that I should be just as thrilled, but I wasn't quite sure who Gregory was?? She quickly explained that it was a bear that the class got to share with one another and each had the opportunity to spend the week with him. Ava was so happy to take pictures with him and tote him around to our various outings. She got to take him skating, to church, to the grocery store, and she even took him to the park to swing on the swings. She was also so excited to share her new friend with Jimmer.

We went skating again on Saturday and had so much fun. Ava has become quite the little skater and can even skate backwards now...something that I have never been able to do. Jimmer just enjoys looking at all the lights and people and eventually falls asleep. This has become one of our favorite family activities.

6 Months and Counting

My baby is 6 months old and we just think the world of our little boy! He is changing so much and we couldn't imagine life without our handsome prince. He puts a smile on our faces as he is discovering new things and the faces he makes are priceless.

Hybernating and Skating

This week has been awfully cold. Yes it is January and yes we live in Alberta, but -40 is never a good thing regardless of where we live. Jimmer and I have literally been home for the last 4 days straight. I snuck away for 1 hour last night to get some groceries, but other than that we have gone no where and I've been really happy about that. When the weather is that nasty I am just glad to be home.

He's quite the momma's boy. He likes to spend time with his daddy, but if I'm anywhere in site he with cause quite the fuss.

Jimmer loves food. I started him on solids a couple weeks ago, but had to stop because his tummy wasn't agreeing with it and he wasn't sleeping well. He sure eye balls us whenever we're eating. I'll wait until we meet with the pediatrician tomorrow to start up again.

Ava started skating with her grade 1 class last Monday. This is the first time she's been on the ice and has really taken a love for it. She originally started in the Grizzly group and has quickly advanced to the Deer group. Last Friday we went skating as a family and had the whole rink to ourselves. This was Ava's third time skating and by the end of the evening she was whizzing around...faster than me. Her and I went again on Saturday night for Toonie skate. This time there were lots more people at the rink, but we still had a great time. We'll definitely make this a regular occurrence for our family.

Daddy's Birthday and Pink Eye

We celebrated Shane's birthday on Saturday, January 7th. We had just a low key evening here with just our small family. This year I decided on a Seahawk's ice cream cake and you definitely can't go wrong with an ice cream cake from DQ. Shane got to watch football all day, so it as a good day for him.

Jimmer has been battling one thing after another. He was finally feeling better after getting bronchiolitis when he got pink eye. The doctor told me that it was just a viral infection, but it was clearly a bacterial infection and then he got a hemorrhage on the corner of his eye. I was not impressed, but he is finally starting to feel better and back to himself again.

5 Months

Jimmer was 5 months old on December 28th and he is changing so much. When I took him to the doctor on Tuesday he weighed in at 18 lbs 13 oz and 29 inches long. Some fun things about our little man...

He loves his hands and other people's hands. He's always got them shoved in his mouth and quite frequently gags himself on his hands.
He sticks his tongue out all the time...almost looks like he's trying to touch his nose with it.
He likes to suck on his bottom lip.
Before he got sick he was sleeping so well...not so much anymore.
He likes to get his hands on anything that he can...especially daddy's pop.
He started eating rice cereal and really likes it, but I'm just not sure that his tummy agrees with it.
He's found his feet and is always grabbing for them.
He loves his big sister. Is starting to notice when she's here or not.
His new favorite toy is his rainforest jumperoo. He likes to be in it, but he also likes when people are watching him in it. He's not too happy if I put him in it and leave the room.
He still loves to watch football with his daddy. Stares very intently at the screen...soaking it all in!
He's happier when going into his car seat. He used to freak out all the time, but not so much anymore. He also loves going for car rides. We've got a mirror on the back of his seat and he loves to look at himself in the mirror.
He hates getting dressed or undressed. I think that it might be because he doesn't have access to his hands for a split second.
He loves to go shopping. I think it's because he loves staring at the lights and likes looking at all the people.
He loves his baths. That's time that he and daddy get to spend together. He kicks and splashes and likes when his ears are under the water. When he's out of the bath, all wrapped up in his towel, he gets the biggest grin on his face when he sees himself in the mirror.

Becky and Mike's Wedding

We left on Boxing Day to go down to my parents house for Becky and Mike's wedding. We broke the trip up, stopping in Edmonton and then heading the rest of the way on the 27th. We spent some time with Shane's family...the kids always have so much fun playing together. We then headed to Stirling for my little sisters wedding. There were 20 people staying under one roof with only one shower. It was a bit chaotic, but nice to be around family.

The wedding was at the Coast Hotel in Lethbridge and was a beautiful location and my sister was a beautiful bride. She couldn't have been happier and she looked stunning. We all had rooms there at the hotel the night of the wedding and this was the best decision. It was so nice to just run upstairs if we needed anything and also to put Jimmer to bed. There was a dance and the kids had so much fun. Ava was dancing up a storm and even when all the other kids went to bed she still wanted to stay and dance the night away. When I came back downstairs after putting Jimmer to bed (his dad stayed with him), Ava was dancing with some of Mike's friends...no care in the world. We had so much fun and are so happy for Becky and Mike!!

First Christmas

This year was a little bit different as we spent Christmas here in Hinton. It was nice to spend this time in our own home, but it was also different to be away from extended family. We had a lot going on in our house...not all good. Ava was sick, Shane then got sick followed by Jimmer getting sick. There is nothing worse than having a sick baby as there is absolutely nothing you can do to take it away from them. There were a lot of sleepless nights and Shane took Jimmer to the hospital one night as he was wheezing and not sleeping. We discovered that he had bronchiolitis and he just had to ride it out. There was a blessing in all of this as Jimmer had to get an x-ray. It was discovered that he had bronchiolitis, but they also discovered something else. He has an esophageal abnormality...Jimmer has been having issues pretty much since he was born. I have tried everything to help him from stopping breast feeding, to trying every kind of formula, to trying every kind of drug for acid reflux. Now I find out that it was nothing to do with any of that. It turns out that he has a dilated esophagus and we don't know what is going to happen at this point. He has to meet with a pediatrician to see what the next step will be.

Aside from all of this we had a great Christmas together. Even though it was Ava's Christmas to spend with her mom, she spent the majority of the time with us. I had Ava during the day the week leading up to Christmas as she was out of school and we picked her up on Boxing Day to head down south for Becky and Mike's wedding.

Jimmer was too young to know what was going on, but it was fun regardless. We had some friends over on Christmas Eve and Christmas day was very quiet. Ava was able to be with us for a couple hours to open up presents and we spent a lot of the day skyping with family.

Shane has been wanting to build a garage for as long as I have known him and since happenings as of late he thought that it would be a great time to get it done. They started building the beginning of November and it is looking good. We'll hopefully be parking in it by the end of the winter.

One of the highlights of our year is the Teck Christmas parties. Last night Shane and I had our first date since Jimmer has been born and went to our work Christmas party. As hard as it was to leave my baby at home for the first time it was nice to get out and enjoy good friends and good food. We got one phone call from the baby-sitter, but everything worked out and the kids were both really good.

What was even better than the adult Christmas party was the kids Christmas party today. Santa was there to give the kids their presents and we were standing in line for what seemed like forever. By the time it was our turn Jimmer had fallen asleep, so I missed the reaction from him that I was hoping. When he finally woke up I took him back to get a couple pictures to capture his reaction. Ava was like a kid in a candy store. She was running around grabbing every piece of candy she could get her hands on. It was hilarious because they had a table full of cupcakes and she kept running over to get more and more. Jimmer was the bell of the ball. I take him to St. Gregory school once a month for an anti-bullying program called Roots of Empathy. He goes to the grade four class and there were a couple kids there from the class. They were so excited to see him and so excited to be able to hold him. Such a great time of the year!!

4 MONTHS

Now that Jimmer is 4 months he had to go for his shots last Friday. This is of course something that I do not enjoy, but I make sure to schedule the appointments for when Shane is available to come. I was holding Jimmer in my arms as the nurse was getting the needles ready and he had the biggest smile on his face as he was looking up at his daddy. Then bam...the nurse got him in the leg and broke his little heart. Probably broke mine worse!!

Tomorrow is our work Christmas party and I'm leaving him with a babysitter for the first time. I'm sure nervous about it, but again I'm sure that it will be harder on me than him. We have an awesome babysitter that will do a great job!

Mo More Movember

The month of November is dedicated to prostate cancer, so Shane decided to join in the cause and grow himself a sweet stash. I am not a big fan of facial hair, but at least it was for a good cause. I was very glad that December arrived and he was all clean shaven this morning. He was able to raise $425 for Movember.

Ava celebrated her 6th birthday on Saturday, November 26th and I can't believe how fast she is growing up. When Shane and I got married she was only 3 and now she's 6 going on 16. It is hard to believe how time passes so quickly. We were able to spend time with her the night of her birthday for a little family party. She got a DSi that she can't put down and we got her a Rapunzel cake. While she was blowing out her candles she got a little too close to one of the candles and burnt her nose...funniest thing I have seen in a long time. She was pretty offended that Shane and I would be laughing while she was crying in pain. It's a good thing that I caught it all on film.

My baby was 4 months old on Monday and I can't believe how much he has changed and is really getting his own little personality. He is our little chatter box and loves getting all the attention which he doesn't have trouble getting. One of his favorite things is bath time...that is a chance for him and daddy to have some bonding time. He also loves his hands. There will be tons of toys around him to play with and all he wants to do is suck on his fist.

MONKEY AND TINK

We had so much fun this Halloween. With our new little addition and plus it was our year to have Ava for the holiday. Of course Jimmer was too young to understand what was going on, but he sure looked cute. Ava was the happiest and cutest kid around. Her and I ran around to all the houses in the neighborhood, all along the way me asking if she was done yet. She was having way too much fun to stop, so we just kept on trucking until she had more candy then I even got as a kid. She kept saying to me, "daddy is going to be so proud of me." Every time she got a can of pop she would say, "another Root Beer for daddy."

3 Months Tomorrow

My baby will be 3 months old tomorrow. I honestly don't know where the time has gone, but man how time flies. The first week he was born I was all worried because he went from 8 pounds 6 ounces to 7 pounds 1 ounce, but clearly from the pictures there was nothing that I had to worry about at all. My baby is getting so big so fast. I took him to the doctor on Tuesday and he now weighs in at 14 pounds 8 ounces. At his two month shots his head measured in the 99 percentile, his weight in the 96% and height 92%. His daddy was very proud!! Jimmer makes me so happy and every day it still amazes me that he is mine. He is chattering and giggling, making all sorts of noises. He loves looking at everything around him and is so intrigued by it all.

Welcome my little man...Jimmer Tate Reay!! I had no idea just how much I would love being a mom and caring for my special little man. He makes me so happy and has been such a good baby so far. Jimmer joined our family on July 28th and we just love him to pieces. I was in pre-labor for about 3 days before my Doctor broke my water on July 27th. These were a tough few days, but made everything worth it when Jimmer arrived just after 7:30am.

FUNNEST SHOPPING TRIP

A couple weeks ago I was finally able to go to the city to buy the baby necessities. Stroller, car seat, diaper bag and crib. Can't wait until this little guy joins us in 2 short months.

VEGAS BABY!

Shane and I went to Vegas back in March. We not only went for shopping and people watching, but also went for the Mountain West Conference Tournament. We loved the relaxing time we were able to have there and loved watching BYU make it to the finals against San Diego. It was amazing to see Jimmer score 52 points against New Mexico. Although I was very disappointed in the maternity shopping or lack thereof.

Our Gift

Shane and I have been trying for the past year and a half to have a baby. This was a very emotional time as I would be waiting each month not to have my period only to be disappointed when it would arrive each month right on schedule. I consulted with my doctor only to be left feeling completely helpless, but still hoping that there would be some comfort or light at the end of the tunnel. I decided that it would be best to see a different DR. and this is what made all the difference in the world. She was and has been fabulous throughout the whole process. She prescribed me to a fertility drug while waiting to see a specialist. While waiting to take the drug low and beyond it happened. Shane and I are PREGNANT and expecting our baby the end of July. I'm 13 weeks along and couldn't be happier. We've been to hear the heartbeat and this was such a special experience. It made everything feel more real and I'm anxious and excited for everything that lies ahead. I've been sick since week 6 and having a really hard time waking up every morning at 5am to go to work. Especially when I have to deal with the stress of my job, but I know that it will all be well worth it. I've been super tired...going to bed at 730pm most nights. They say that people eat for two, but I must disagree...I have been sleeping for two. I don't have any pictures yet, but we will be going for the ultrasound the beginning of March where it will make everything more real and we'll find out if it's a boy or girl!! Ava wants a sister more than anything, but Shane and I will just be happy to have a healthy, happy baby. I'll keep you all in suspense, but until then I'll share some pictures of our latest happenings.

I've decided that since I finally have a quiet weekend at home I will update this blog. We have had a busy, busy summer traveling to Utah, Stirling and Edmonton a ton. We have had so much fun and I wanted to share pictures of all the things we've been doing...

1. Ava's Graduation from preschool and year end party. Miss Connie and Miss Denise have been great teachers and Ava will miss them both. She keeps talking about wanting to go back to preschool instead of kindergarten in the Fall.

2. Allan and Danielle came out with the kids for a visit. Ava loves spending time with her cousins, Emma and Walker. They had a lot of fun with one another regardless of Ava being territorial.

3. We then took a long road trip down to Utah to visit Shane's mom in Mountain Home, had a brief visit with Mandy and were also able to stay with Rob, Amy and the family.

4. Kristi and Jared came out with the boys Canada Day long weekend. The weather was so terrible that it was hard to want to spend any time outside. We did go to the parade regardless and spent some time at the festivities. The boys were able to go out to the mine and see the big trucks...I think that was probably the highlight for them.

5. We spent a weekend down in Stirling to celebrate settler days. All the kids had so much fun swimming, going to the parade and playing together.

6. Spent some time in Jasper taking Ava to see Toy Story 3 and going swimming. Then the first part of August Jay and Kristi came with their boys for a visit. Jay and the boys had never been to Alberta and therefore had never had a chance to see the West Edmonton Mall. We spent a lot of time there...going to Galaxyland, Waterpark, Sea Life Caverns, Bowling, Mini Golf...pretty much everything there is to do there. Ava was so brave and went on so many of the rides at Galaxyland and the waterslide all by herself at the Waterpark.

7. We took Ava to the city to see her cousin Emma and to get her haircut. She loved, loved the pampering and had so much fun at the salon. Ava had a perma-grin the whole time and Lauren did a great job. We took the two girls shopping too and Ava had so much fun snapping pictures...she's quite the little photographer.

Little Update

Instead of reading everyone else's blogs I guess that it's time to update my own. I have been extremely busy with work and playing softball for a community team that the last thing I think about is blogging. Sleep is much more important!! I now have a little bit more free time on my hands as I'm not working for the next week and a half. Ava will be staying with us which we're both thrilled about. While Shane's at work making the big bucks I'll be at home having fun, fun, fun. As soon as she gets feeling better we'll be making crafts, jumping on the trampoline, going to the park, gardening, swimming, and one of Ava's favorite activities...working out.

No one likes a post without pictures, so I'll share some from Easter down at mom and dad's house and one when Ava was coloring Easter eggs at her cousin Emma's house.

BYU Madness

Can they pull this one off? Can Fredette lead BYU to a victory over Kansas State tonight, upsetting the Little Apple? They made it into March Madness with a 29-5 record and the Wall Street Journal has them slated to make it all the way to the final four. Let's see if they can live up to the hype and make it to Salt Lake City!!

Last Sunday Ava had to stay in her dress all day...I think she feels more like a Princess when she's in her Sunday best. When I took the first picture of her she was looking at the TV. Whenever I tell her to look at the camera instead she says to me, "I can't help it." Shane taped Madagascar 2 for her which she's watching and she couldn't keep her eyes off the show. It took three tries to get her to look at the camera in the second photo.

Tis the Season

I absolutely love this time of the year and can not get enough of it. We decorated the tree and the rest of the house. Ava was so excited that she got to put the decorations wherever she wanted. I had to do a little switching around when she wasn't looking, but she did a pretty good job on her own. The house looks fabulous inside and out. Ava's favorite thing right now is Runolph (Rudolph) that sings when you press his ear. She has to do everything with him...eat, sleep, watch movies, etc.

We had Shane's work Christmas party yesterday for the kids and Ava was a little unsure of Santa at first, but warmed up to him after a short time on his lap.

Domestic Goddess

For Ava's birthday I decided to pull out whatever creative bone I could find and made this Arial cake for her. It wasn't my best work as the icing was not cooperating and started to melt before I could get it on the cake. She loved it and that's all that matters. She couldn't stop talking about her Arial cake and was very protective of it at her party.

I've been married for three months now and still feel like I'm in honeymoon mode, which is probably why I have neglected this blog for so long. I can't say that I haven't had time because I have plenty of that right now, but it's something that I have been feeling less motivated to do.

After the big wedding day Shane and I were able to take a trip to Viva Las Vegas and had a fabulous time!! Our hotel was more then we could ask for and wouldn't stay anywhere else when we go back. We had 5 star service all the way around. If anyone is looking for a great place to stay look into the Encore at the Wynn...fabulous!!

All Good Things Must End!!

I've enjoyed my last 3 years here in Edmonton. It was a difficult move for me at first, but once here I knew that this is where I was supposed to be for a number of reasons. I have developed lasting friendships; being close to family has been a blessing as I've enjoyed spending time with Kristi, Jared, and the boys; having Becky live with me for a short time; always having a way to provide for myself...working at the U of A as well as Banana Republic; and of course meeting my Prince Charming. I would not trade any of these things as they have only made me a better person and got me to where I am today!!

A number of different things have transpired over the last couple of weeks, one in which was probably my biggest stress and that was selling my condo. It was on the market for all of about 3 weeks and it finally SOLD!! It is such a relief to have over and done. Possession date is slated for June 15th and I couldn't be happier about the timing...everything is coming together and working out like clockwork. I really love my condo, but know that it is on to bigger and better things. I have a house in Hinton that Shane and I will make ours and I'm so looking forward to it...we have a beautiful view of the mountains from our front window and a great view of the foothills from the kitchen window.

With possession date being the 15th of June I will be working until this Friday at the University and then I'm done. I've enjoyed the people that I work with, but am so ready to be out of here. My job is one of the most boring jobs I have ever had...pays well, but so incredibly slow and not challenging at all. It will be nice to have some time to get packed and make last minute preparations for the wedding.

Shane and I had our engagement photos taken in Hinton this past weekend and we had so much fun!! It was seriously such a great way to spend our Saturday morning and thanks to Lori Jespersen we have so many great ones to choose from. While in Utah we were able to go to a Jazz game...Utah vs. Minnesota!! This was my second Jazz game and Shane's first, so it was exciting to be there in person to encounter the excitement. Rob, Amy, Shane, and I went out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants before hand...California Pizza Kitchen and then made our way over to the game. We were greeted by some Jazz chearleaders and you'd think that Rob and Shane had won the lottery. It was fun to be there even though they lost to one of the worst teams in the league. One of the highlights was being able to see Shane's grandma again...this time we were smart enough to get pictures.

Halle's Birthday Week

We had such a fun time while at Rob and Amy's and part of that had to do with the fact that it was Halle's 7th Birthday...I can't believe how fast this little cutie is growing up!! We celebrated on Thursday by going to Provo followed by dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and a shopping spree at Gap for the kids to stock up on summer wear. Halle was so excited that we were celebrating her birthday and when the waitors brought her cake out she thought that it was so cool that they spelled her name right...little did she know that Rob had talked to them before hand. It was a great way to spend the day. We celebrated again on her actual birthday which was Saturday, April 4th!! It amazes me how grown up Halle is...she is one of the most stylish 7 year olds I know and could give girls my age a lesson or two in fashion. I love you Halle and had such a great time with you!!

Mandy's Visit!!

Mandy made a special trip to S. Weber where we were able to have a visit and catch up. I was also able to meet her new little baby Ella...well I guess that she's not so new anymore as she's now 3 months old. She is such an adorable little girl and it was so great to finally meet her and see Mandy again. Thanks for coming to visit Mandy!!

Utah Bound

Shane likes to get an early start on roadtrips and therefore we were up and out of the house by 5am...we were both anxious and excited to get to his grandma's house in Mountain Home, Utah. I was able to meet aunts, uncles, cousins, and his Grandma who was more interested in the Jazz game then talking to me. I was pre-warned before hand, so I didn't mind the disruption.

For those of you who have never been to the Dairy Keen in Heber City you must make a special visit. Their milkshakes are the best I have ever had...they are so thick that they give you a spoon rather then a straw. Delicious!!

Shane first met my parents back in February when they made a trip to Edmonton for the weekend. They immediately liked him as hello...what isn't there to like about him!! Shane and dad had lots to talk about as they are both avid sports freaks and talked business. The end of March it was time to grace him with the home town visit to Stirling where we were able to spend even more time with the family. We were on our way to Utah for a well needed vacation and decided to spend a couple of days in the homeland. Dad made his famous pies and Becky, Kristi, Jared, and the boys even made there way down for the weekend.

Happy Birthday to me!! One year older and hopefully wiser too. I have a feeling that it is going to be a really good day. Even though it is early I managed to make it to work without having to sit in traffic for an hour. I took an alternate route and was here in no time. I then got to my desk and the two ladies I work with were kind enough to have a card and flowers sitting at my desk waiting for me on my special day!! That followed by a phone call wishing me a happy birthday from "one of a kind" has made 8:30am bearable and will only get better as I'll be going out with friends tonight to my favorite restaurant. Original Joes for the delicious cobb salad.

I've already been spoiled with so much and I even managed to spoil myself last night by getting my hair done. Lauren did a fantastic job and I am really happy with the color. You'll have to let me know what you think?!

Short Work Week!!

I love short work weeks and am so glad that it's already Wednesday!! I was expecting yesterday to be a little slow as it's reading week and I didn't think that a lot of the students would be around...quite the opposite though. There were lots of people around and it made the day pass by extra quickly. I then had to go straight to BR and work there for the rest of the night which was the better part of the work day. A new shipment of the spring line came in so I was able to try on and check out all the fun new pieces...only looked though as I have bought enough in the last little while. It is time to put away the bank card and save a little bit of money!! haha

By the time I got home I was exhausted and ready to crash on my couch while watching The Biggest Loser. This is the only show on TV right now that I absolutely have to watch...I love seeing the trasformations that occur as these people change their lives. All but two teams were forced to train outside of the gym this week and it proved to be rewarding for some while others still struggled to take off the weight that they needed to stay at the ranch. My favorite part of the whole show is watching the last chance work out, seeing the contestants weigh in and seeing the results of the person that goes home. Without fail I fell asleep before I was able to see the weigh in and woke up as they were showing Shannon's results after going home.

My goal this year is to run a half marathon and in order to do that I have to run A LOT!! I did my long run on Friday and managed to get in 9.63 miles...I would have liked to make it to 10 miles, but I guess that will be my goal for this week. It's unfortunate that I have to stare out the window at the same houses, at the same building, at the same little pond...hopefully it will warm up sooner then not so I can actually run outside.

I had a really great weekend and part of that really great weekend was spent watching Confessions of a Shopaholic. I think that all of us can relate to this movie in some way or another and I loved everything about it. The critics gave it an average of a grade C, but what do they know really!? I would definitely give this movie an A+. Isla Fisher played the perfect part of Rebecca Bloomwood...her buying sprees and impulsive spending habits land her in some serious debt. She thinks that if she can land a position as a journalist at the top fashion magazine all of her financial problems will disappear. Funny thing is that instead of getting that dream job she becomes an advice columnist at a financial magazine and only becomes deaper in debt!! I really hope that they come out with more of these...there's lots of books so let's just hope that there's lots of movies.

I'm a big fan of this show right now...I just finished the first season and don't know what I'm going to do until the second season is finished and out on DVD!! I've tried watching online, but it doesn't seem to work for me because I don't live in the US. Maybe there is somewhere else I can look in the mean time. I love that it takes place in NYC; the characters are charming, witting, manipulative, catty, back stabbing, stuck up, which seems to create the drama that everyone is hooked on!!

My two week Christmas break was well needed and nice that I only had to use 2 vacation days to get that much time off. I had such a great time with my family and really couldn't have asked for better!! It started by making the trek down to Southern Alberta on Sunday, spending the majority of Monday in my pjs at mom and dads house before making the treacherous drive down to Utah on Tuesday. The roads weren't as bad going down as we had anticipated and having my dad behind the wheel put my anxiety at ease. It was great to have the opportunity to spend the holidays with Rob, Amy and their sweet little ones...couldn't have asked for a better way to spend Christmas. We did a lot of relaxing, a lot of eating, shopping, playing the wii (when one was found that actually worked) and just being together as a family. As good as it was to be away and spend some well needed time away it was also good to be back in the frigid city of Edmonton...back in my own house, sleeping in my own bed!!

I had a fabulous year in 2008, but I know that 2009 will be just as great if not the best year for none other then ME!! The Christmas break brought so many lasting memories from the drive down to Utah, to the time spent with family (will update that later), the weather couldn't have been any worse, celebrating G. Nilsson's birthday, ringing in the new year with my favorite little sister, being back in my own house...sleeping in my own bed!!

Now it's time to make those goals that seem to be the ongoing for the past and upcoming year...

1. Give up the diet Soda
2. Train for the SLC half marathon
3. Go on at least 3 trips this year...SLC in April, NYC, Hawaii
4. Read and study scriptures daily
5. Work on morning prayer
6. Make dinner at least 3 times a week
7. Take lunch to work at least 3 times a week
8. Get married!!

Special Weekend!!

This past weekend was so great!! I was able to go home and spend time with all of my family. Lindsay, Becky and I drove down on Thursday night and missed the crazy winter storm on Friday which was a relief. Unfortunately Kristi and Jared had to drive right through it on Friday afternoon, but they made it safe and sound. Even though it was a crazy time to be on the roads and the weather wasn't the best I was still able to have such a special time on Saturday morning as I was able to go to the temple for the first time. I couldn't have been happier with how things turned out and feel good about this decision that I made!! Life couldn't be better. Having all my family there made it that much more special and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I appreciate all of them for making the trip to share this time with me. I also was blessed to have Lindsay there...she has been such a great friend to me and is always there when I need a listening ear!! I missed you Tanya, but realize the roads were not in the best shape. I guess that's what we get for living in Alberta.

Does this look like a winter wonderland to you?? This is pretty much what my commute to work looked like this morning...everyone driving like a bunch of idiots and nothing pretty about this. This is why I hate winter and can't wait for Spring to get here already. We have been really lucky to have nice weather up until now, but I'm already done!! If the city actually did something about the roads it might be a little bit better. On the radio this morning they were talking about fining people who don't shovel their sidewalks within 48hours and to that I say then you better plow the roads. Oh the joys of winter in Edmonton!!

Lately I've been feeling a little down and out, but last night I was able to go to an amazing show that made me feel 100% better. I was able to go see Carrie Underwood where Little Big Town opened the show. I wasn't the biggest fan of LBT...they have a couple good songs, but for the most party I just wanted Carrie to get the show started. The crowd went wild when she came out on stage and she is even more gorgeous in person and her voice is literally amazing. She's got such strong vocals and put on a great show.

Yes it was a bit cheezy and juvenile but you couldn't really expect anything but that especially since it is a vampire love story and the characters are 17 years old. On Friday night I hosted a Black and White party in which the whole purpose of the event was for everything to be black and white. I think that it turned out pretty darn good. The decor turned out exactly how I envisioned and thanks to the help from my good friend Lindsay who helped make it all look fabulous. It was fun to do something a little bit different and I hope everyone had a good time!! Amy...I think that I should move down to Utah and we can be party planners together. I Love to See the Temple!!

I've been preparing myself for the last 28 years to enter the walls of the temple and have finally made the important decision to make these important and sacred covenants. I couldn't be happier about my decision and now it is overcoming the opposition that has been placed before me. It has only made me that much stronger and makes me want it that much more.

Because yesterday was such a downer post I decided that I would post all the things that I'm grateful for as I do have so many blessings and so much to make me happy!!

1. Family - my family has always been super close...I love every opportunity to go for visits and can't get enough of my little nieces and nephews. I was able to go home for Thanksgiving and spend time with my extended family as well which was fun!!

2. Friends - throughout my life I have always been blessed to have super good friends that I can rely and count on.

3. The Gospel - along with my family, this has made me the person that I am today. The church has always been very important to me and I know that it is because of the gospel that I am so happy. There is so much that encompasses the gospel, so I'm grateful for a living prophet, the scriptures, eternal families, the temple, service, and callings.

4. My house - with the way the economy is right now I have definitely been blessed to have what I do...especially a roof over my head.

5. Good health

6. Opportunity - I have been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit. My favorite destination is still NYC and I hope to go back really soon.

7. Music - I have always been very passionate about music. I love singing...to myself in the car, and enjoy listening to just about everything and anything as long as it sounds good.

8. Fashion - this probably sounds so superficial, but it is something that I love and therefore am grateful for. There's something about it that just makes me really happy!!

Of course there's so much more, but I'll stop there before I bore everyone.

Break From Life!!

I really don't like to get too personal on this thing because who knows who's reading it, but lately I have just been feeling like a need somewhat of a break. I have had thoughts to sell my condo...make a bunch of cash and take some time to travel, but then I have always been the type that needs some stability and needs to be making money. Thought pushed aside. I have also had the thought to find a new job, something that is a bit more challenging and rewarding. I enjoy my job because of the flexibility and the people and environment that I work in, but there has to be more then just that. Again thought pushed aside. If any of you know me well you will know that my track record with dating is pretty pathetic. I seem to attract all the wrong type...I date plenty, but never seem to date the right ones. In high school I was always the buddy. My friends were always the ones that dated, but I was always the friend. Now that I have a bit more style and class I seem to be dating a lot more, but guys do not know how to treat a lady anymore. What happened to chivalry...non-existant and therefore I need a break from men!! They make me angry and frustrated and confused. Random thoughts!!

On my way home from work last night I almost got run over by a garbage truck. I was driving along minding my own business when a garbage truck with a little pick up truck on the back decides that he's going to switch lanes...right into the side of me. I layed on my horn and had to slow right down otherwise there would have been catastrophe. Seriously are people so retarded that they would drive right into someone, not even paying attention to what they were doing. I tried to get his license number, but it was covered up by something and then as I was driving past him he looks down on me as if I was in the wrong and I flipped him the bird. Yes very lady like of me, but I was ticked!!

With Fall in Edmonton usually comes cold weather, but this week has been unusually warm for this time of the year and I am loving it. I sure hope that it lasts, but I know that it is only a matter of time before it will be well behind us. I have been taking full advantage of my time outside...pulled out the rollerblades on Monday, went for a picnic at the park with the Pitcher's, going for walks on Whyte Ave at lunch time, and even played some tennis last night. I'm sad to see it go, but here's for praying for a mild winter.

Saturday night there was an 80s themed dance for all the YSA in Edmonton and let me tell you that was a treat. I'm a big fan of people watching and that was the perfect environment to do just that. I was able to experience just how silly people can look in tights and bright colors and funny that people think that when you add tights to an outfit it can actually make it look modest. There are only a few good things that came out of the 80s and style was not one of them. When I think of the 80s I think of Dynasty, Miami Vice, and music.

I've been sickie sick for the past few days...was layed up in bed all day yesterday after my mom came and took care of me!! Thanks mom for supplying me with plenty of juice, slurpee, lozengers, tylenol 3, and mouth wash. I finally made it to the DR. today only to discover that I have strep throat...

Strep throat is a bacterial infection of the tissues in the back of the throat and the tonsils. The tissues become irritated and inflamed, causing a sudden, severe sore throat. There are many different strains of strep bacteria, some of which cause more serious illness than others. The type of strep that most commonly infects the throat is called group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus (GABS). Other types that can sometimes infect the throat are groups C and G strep bacteria.

I'm sure that you all wanted to know a little bit more about this infection...haha!!

Can't Get Enough

I love spending time with my family and so it was off to Utah to visit the little ones there. I hadn't been down since January, so I figured I was in need of another visit before the weather turns nasty. I flew in bright and early Thursday morning where I was greeted by Amy, Mya, and Lucy. Funny story...I was waiting for them to come pick me up and as I was waiting I decided to text Rob to make sure they were on their way. I got a reply back saying "yes, where are you". I said that I was waiting under the awning after terminal one in which he replies again, "I'm in Moab, UT...how long do you think it will take to get there". Turns out I was texting some Doug guy and he was more then willing to come pick me up. I guess that I will have to do some updating and get the right phone number for my brother.

I had such a great time while there...thanks Rob and Amy!! I really do appreciate everything. I was able to shop at one of my favorite stores...Target where I found some super cute things. I was able to eat at my favorite restaurant...Cafe Rio and CPK!! I went on a blind date on Saturday night where I had a really great time. We went to this little restaurant called Taggert's by Morgan, UT. It's got it's own exit in the middle of the mountains and the food was super yummy. We then went to Phat Cat's where I was showed up in all the car racing arcade games. The rest of the trip was good...was able to just relax and spend time with the little ones. I adore all of them and was sooo glad to be there. Amy, Erin, and I went and saw Mamma Mia on Monday night and can't say enough good things about the show. It might help that I grew up listening to ABBA, but I think that I have to see it again!! I flew out Tuesday afternoon, so Amy and I went into SLC earlier to do a little shopping and eat at CPK. Now I have Christmas to look forward to!!
